Get involved
Everyone starts by showing up.
SOCYPAA is run by members who meet twice a month to plan events, support each other in sobriety, and keep the message of A.A. alive for young people. No sign-up, no experience, no commitment to speak.

What actually happens at a committee meeting
We open with a few minutes of quiet, read the Twelve Traditions, and go around the room so everyone gets a name and a voice.
Then the reports: what's coming up, what needs a hand, what the treasurer says about the basket. Old business, new business, and — usually — somebody volunteers for something they didn't expect to.
We close on time. A lot of us go get food after. That's not on the agenda, but it's the part people remember.
This is not a regular A.A. meeting. It's an open committee. Street parking is available nearby, and you can drop in without telling anyone you're coming.
Service positions
Every position is filled by a member who just kept showing up. Stand for one at a business meeting — or try a small job first and see how it feels.
General member
The most important position. Show up, vote, bring a friend. No experience, no commitment beyond the hour.
Greeter & newcomer outreach
Stand at the door, learn names, follow up with the person who came in looking terrified — because that was us.
Events committee
Venues, food, flyers, sound. If you like making a night happen, this is where the night gets made.
Graphics & social media
Flyers, posts, the visual voice of SOCYPAA. Bring a laptop or just an eye.
Literature & chips
Keep the basket stocked, order the books, hand out the medallions on chip night.
Treasurer & finance
Track the 7th Tradition, keep us self-supporting, and report back to the group like Tradition Seven asks.
Twelve-step work is just one alcoholic talking to another.
You don't need a title to carry the message. Bring a newcomer to a meeting, answer the phone, or help set up chairs. That's the whole job.
